Genesis

This prestigious PM Shri kendriya vidyalaya -1 Air Force Station Tambaram, initially was one among the 20 Regimental schools started during 1964. The same Regimental schools were known as central schools before they become kendriya vidyalayas under kendriya vidyalaya sangathan.This was run in the Air Force Building from 1964 to 1978 inside the Air Force Station, Tambaram. The first principal of this kendriya vidyalaya was Shri. Hanumanth Rao.This institution got shifted to the present location in Madambakkam Camp Selaiyur ( provided by Air Force to kv on lease ) with it’s own building constructed by kendriya vidyalaya sangathan during 1978. Then the principal was Shri. Subramanyam.At present this vidyalaya has one section of Balvatika-III , three sections each from class I to X and one section each in Humanities, Commerce and Science in class XI and XII.
